She’s Making Headlines…

Some notable news worthy ladies in the last month & this month!

“Do what you feel in your heart to be right – for you’ll be criticized anyway.”

Eleanor Roosevelt

Here are few – Dig in…

  1. Graveyard of Sweethearts – At Bondi Beach in Sydney Australia. Two artists hilippa Lysaght and Omi McCurdie’s created this haunting graveyard that looks sweet to honor women killed by domestic violence. I think it also speaks for women who have been raped i.e. Cornell and everyother woman’s who hasn’t had her voice heard. This installation is Badass and speaks volumes to the amount of work that still needs to be done.
  2. Margaret “Meg” Crane showed up again in the news this week. As the inventor of the first home pregnancy kit inventor. This is another example of invention that changed the lives of women and was a woman who did it! This story is incredible; as an artist and woman inspiring! The BBC Storyworks interview is the best & straight from Meg’s mouth.

3. In other news…Katie Zacharia, former Press Secretary which lasted for 3 days. I have mixed up feelings about this story. On one hand I feel like she was “set up” to fail & chosen because she was beautiful as well maybe not having the write credentials i.e. the chum in the water. ON the other hand she is somewhat at fault too for signing up for the role. But, whose to say because with this administration we never know the whole story. This one to me was a lose/lose situation & doesn’t look great for women or for Katie. Forbes, article published October, 22nd 2026

4. The New York Times : Women and Girls the entire list of notable, newsworthy, articles about women or highlighting them this week.

5. Another big one this week- The Election!!! Can you name all the women who made the headlines in the ELECTION!! It’s a lot. There are so many articles…get going on google! Here is one to get you started from the Washington Post

For me writing this blog is one way I can highlight, share, and celebrate other women making history or changing the landscape of how “it’s always been done.” It’s pretty awesome to look around and see other women and men showing up & making statements too. Especially in the government where we all know how things have been going.

I feel so elated to read, see, view these news worthy stories and know that we can change things and they are changing even if a little at a time! Progress is Progress! If we all keep being kind, loving, creating, designing, inventing, growing, sharing, giving, helping, doing, being, sustaining, establishing, building, establishing, constructing, generating, braving (Brene Brown), and of course supporting each other!!!

I am honored to be a woman, an artist, a writer, a maker, and a person who deeply cares for others! I am also honored to see that we can begin to make more history and change! I feel a big shift upon us!

Let’s get going!
